My Life On Postcards

Perspective

Dear Laura, Being in another than the usual place gives me the chance to look at the place I am usually in from another, new or even forgotten perspective. The interesting thing is, that even my perspective of my perspective can change. This reminds me of a problem I often wondered about when I was little. Imagine yourself flying around the world. As a passenger this would feel as if you would be flying in a straight line, but observed from another planet it would appear as if you were flying in a circle. Now imagine you could see the moon on the horizon while you are flying around the world and you would choose the moon as your destination. From Outer space this would seem as if you were flying in a straight line from the planet to the moon, but sitting in the aircraft it would appear as if you were flying an exponential curve. So in order to understand your own perspective, you need to get a perspective on your perspective.
